RENTAL PERIOD

  RENTAL CONTRACT
  Each trailer rental requires a Rental Contract.  A booking reservation is not secured until a Contract is completed.

SECURITY DAMAGE DEPOSIT
A Damage Security Deposit of $500 cash is required on the day of trailer pick-up.  Upon return of the trailer, we will inspect the condition of the unit both inside and out, take account of all amenities, and will refund the deposit, or balance thereof, after any damages have been repaired. 

DELUXE BIKE CARRIER RENTAL (optional)  - Don't leave the bikes at home!
Carry up to 4 bikes with our hitch-mount deluxe 4-bike carrier.  Vehicles must have a 2" hitch receiver. Bike carrier includes dual anti-sway bars and fits most bike frames.  Includes the 2" ball mount for the tent trailer. (click on image to enlarge)

  TRAILER DAMAGE INSURANCE (TDI)
Unfortunately accidents can happen to anyone.  So to help alleviate the worry and stress Rent-A-Tent  includes Trailer Damage Insurance (TDI)  with every rental which provides physical damage insurance for accidental damages occurring to the Trailer in excess of $500 during the rental period.  Our trailers are 2010 Rockwood's and are valued at just under $9,000.  TDI is included in the rental fee.

Below are two examples of trailer damages we have experienced over years:
Picture 1 -  Renter was rear-ended by another vehicle. The repair cost was $1500 and the Renter as covered.
Picture 2 -  Renter hit an other vehicle on his way home from a camping trip. This trailer was a "write-off". TDI covered it.

NOTE: Renter's must "qualify" for the Trailer Damage Insurance coverage such as in having a good driving record (i.e. - Star 4 and above auto insurance rating with few traffic violations). Please contact Rent-A-Tent for more information.

CANCELLATION INSURANCE (optional)
The initial Reservation Deposit is not refundable in the event of cancellation of the rental by the Renter. However, the purchase of Cancellation Insurance allows you the ability to cancel your rental up to 15 days prior to your reserved pick-up date and be refunded the Reservation Deposit .   Cancellation insurance is optional and must be paid in full at time of booking. Cancellation Insurance costs $50.00 per Rental. Please contact Rent-A-Tent for more details.

Do it for Me Delivery
For a small fee, we will deliver a trailer to your pre-reserved camp site and set it up. At the end of your camping holiday we will come back to take down the trailer and return it to our site.  Delivery of a trailer is at the discretion and availability of Rent-A-Tent.  Camping destination must be within a 30 minute radius of Barrie.  Popular Provincial Park destinations include Earle Rowe PP (Alliston), Bass Lake PP, Mara PP, and McCrae PP (all near Orillia).  Some conditions apply - please call for more details. 

TRAILER DESTINATION LIMITATIONS
As a policy Rent-A-Tent  only considers reservation bookings for camping destinations within  the Province of Ontario.  If you would like to you travel out of the province then please call us to discuss.

TOW VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS
è Your tow vehicle must be equipped with:
              -   a secure Class II trailer hitch assembly complete with receiver ball mount  (ie. draw bar / tongue bar)
              -   a  2" trailer ball
              -   electrical wiring plug with a "flat four" plug (most cars & vans),  or a "7-way round" plug (most pick-up trucks) wiring harness. 

                             

è Please ensure the electrical wiring is working properly prior to trailer pick-up!
 
è The top of trailer ball height should be between 14" - 18" off the ground.

è When loaded with our supplies the 10' tent trailers weigh approximately 1,550 lbs.
Check with your car manufacturer for the tow ratings of your vehicle.  Most mini-vans, SUV's, pick-up trucks, and mid-sized 6 cylinder cars can easily tow our trailers.  Tow ratings for compact cars (4 cylinder motor) are questionable. Again, please check with your vehicle manufacturer.

TRAILER SET-UP DEMONSTRATION
Sometime before your departure we will give you a full demonstration of the unit, showing you where everything is and how everything works, both inside and outside.  A "hands-on" Demonstration Appointment is mandatory and takes about 45 minutes.  Appointments can be arranged at times convenient to your schedule.

PICK UP & RETURN TIMES
We do our best to work around your schedule for trailer pick-ups. However during our High Season (July and August) reservations can only be booked from Sunday to the following Saturday (two week max). Trailers are due back no later than 4pm on the last day of your rental. 

LATE RETURN POLICY
Late returns really mess things up for everybody and can delay the next rental family's departure.  Trailers are often booked to go out to the next family a few hours after a drop-off.   When you return a trailer we need time to inspect it, give it a bath, and position it for the next family.  So as a discouragement, late charges may apply upon a trailer not being returned to Rent-A-Tent  by 4:00pm on the return date, or as otherwise agreed to by Rent-A-Tent.

TRAILER AWNING
Please be advised that Rent-A-Tent  does not include a trailer awning with the rental unit . There was a time some time ago when we did include the awning but unfortunately we experienced just too many awning damages as they rip easily. We recommend renters simply bring a large tarp or kitchen tent.

HYDRO CAMPSITES (ELECTRICAL POWER)
While not mandatory, we recommend that renters reserve camp sites that have hydro electricity services. This allows the trailer's electrical features to be fully utilized such as the 12v interior/ exterior lighting, the 120v electric outlets, and the fridge and furnace.

Please be advised that  trailer rental units do not come equipped with a 12v battery pack for use in the absence of hydro electric services at the camp site, and that the use of 12v battery packs on a rental unit is prohibited unless otherwise provided by Rent-A-Tent for the operation of the roof lift system.
