Many families find it very difficult to dedicate more than 1 or 2 weeks towards summer camping each year.  It's just an unfortunate reality of our busy lifestyles today.   Unless you are planning to camp more than 3 full weeks each and every year, then you could rent a tent trailer for 10 YEARS before you would spend the same amount of money on a comparable unit.

As an example, if you bought a 2 - 3 year old used unit in excellent condition, say for $8,000 (including taxes and outfitting costs).  After 10 years your trailer will depreciate to around only $2,000,  giving you a loss of $6,000 or $500 per year.  We rent our trailers for as little as $480 per week!

So as you can see, owning a tent trailer can actually be more expensive than renting a new trailer every year. It can also be an expensive long-term endeavour mixed with some hefty risks.    A "no strings" Rental quickly becomes the smart option for most potential buyers.
